More Fun and Games for the Game Room

I love antique shows and flea markets, especially during the winter when there aren't any garage sales going on.

Recently I found a Chinese Checkers board at a flea market.  It didn't come with any of the marbles, but good ol' Amazon had someone selling a complete set for $5. 

I wanted to display the board on the wall of my Game Room, so used Tacky Glue and a toothpick and filled each hole.  I set each marble in and let them dry.  Instantly I had colorful artwork for the wall!

 

 

 

 

Recently, I found this old bank and a jar of marbles.  The bank works by collecting nickels, dimes and quarters.  When the value in the bank reaches $10, you can open it.  Yes, we now put our change in each evening.  My husband knew exactly how it worked, as he'd had one of these growing up.

 

 

I love the colorful jar of marbles.  It came with a new lid, so I just changed it out to an old zinc lid and love the new look!

More Games for the Game Room

 

 

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Fleattitude, a Vintage Market about 50 miles from my house.  I wasn't sure how long it'd take me to get there, so I was pretty early, which made me happy.  (I love being one of the first in line for sales like this!)   The night before, my husband said he wanted to go, until he found out that we'd be leaving by the crack of dawn.  He tried to get me to wait till later to go--not a chance.  Instead, he slept in and I shopped till I dropped. 

 

 

 

I found a lot of fun stuff!

 

 

The first thing I found was this game board.  I had been considering one online for awhile, but wasn't sure.  I saw this and saw the great price, so I scooped it up!  The only thing wrong with it was a missing net in one corner.

 

 

Since I don't do needlework, I decided I would find a replacement.  I thought maybe a fishing net, but those were too thin and expensive. 

 

 

My husband found this set.  And it was on clearance.  By the time it was ours, we'd paid $2.33.  Definitely worth the chance!

 

 

 

 

I needed the new net to look a lot like this old one.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 I cut it out of the racquet and sprayed it with Camouflage paint.  I let it dry about an hour, then stuffed it in the corners and hung it on the wall.

 

 

 

 

 

Yes, if you look closely, you can see which corner is the new one, but really, most people who come into our Game Room are there for a party, so I doubt that they'll ever notice!

An Oldtime Pinball Machine for the Game Room

We love hanging out in our basement family room/ game room.  We collect vintage games such as Pachinko and some old ball shooter games.  Today as I was on our local 'Craigslist-like' online marketplace, I saw an ad for an old pinball machine.  I do a lot of garage-saling and looking online and have not seen one like this before.  I thought it would look great in the game room.  Of course, it was crazy-worry time for me as we had to drive home 30 miles with it in the back of the truck.  Luckily it made it and my worst "old pinball machine strewn all over the freeway" fears didn't come to pass.  :)

I absolutely love the graphics painted on the sides of it.  We think it is a pretty old one based on the birds' eye maple wood on the edges and legs. 

 

 

 

My very handy husband will be digging into it soon and hopefully get it working perfectly again.  In the meantime, I'm just excited to have it!

Come on Over for Some Old Fashioned Fun

We love hanging out with friends in our game room.

Between air hockey, Wii and the dog running back and forth, it does get a little crazy!  (ok, a lot crazy!)

My parents gave us this old Coke machine.  My husband cleaned it up and I think it looks great!

We love this little popcorn maker.  It's not old, but looks retro, which is fun. 

Some old favorite foods on the menu...

The place to settle the tab at the end of the night.  :)
